Bukidnon media practitioners commemorate Maguindanao Massacre anniversary
BUKIDNON NEWS – Thanks to an email from Atong Press, I got hold of the news that members of the Bukidnon media community commemorated the first anniversary of the Maguindanao Massacre yesterday, November 23, 2010, in Malaybalay City, the capital of Bukidnon. The Maguindanao Massacre (also known as Ampatuan Massacre) was the gruesome killing of 58 people, 32 of whom were journalists. A total of 196 suspects have been named, including Andal Ampatuan, Jr.
Representatives from various media outlets all over Bukidnon were at the event yesterday. A mass was first held then a march to the Malaybalay City Covered Court for a candle lighting ceremony.
A photo exhibit, which will run until the 30th of this month, can be found at the Bukidnon State University Ethno-Cultural Museum. The exhibit is dubbed “Sudden death, slow justice.”
Here’s one of the photos taken during the event yesterday, courtesy of Bukidnon Photo Journal. More photos can be found HERE.
