Sumilao Bukidnon LGU to offer food, school supplies in exchange for trash
The Municipality of Sumilao has a “Basura Mo, Bayloan Ko” program and it’s gaining a lot of praises from netizens.
According to the program mechanics posted by LGU Sumilao, rice, sardines or school supplies will be given in exchange for trash. For every kilo or more of trash specifically junk food wrappers, shampoo sachets, soy sauce or coffee or vinegar plastic packets, ice candy or ice wrappers and sando bags, the LGU will provide the Sumilao resident with food or school supplies.
Those interested to join the program just need to collect and clean the trash, put in a cellophane and bring to the nearest barangay hall so that such can be weighed. There will be corresponding items based on the weight of the trash.
For instance, 1 can of sardines and 2 packs of noodles plus 1 notebook or paper, 1 biscuit and 1 ballpen or pencil will be given in exchange of 1 kilo of trash.
