Reported NPA rebels burn 3 vehicles in Malaybalay, Bukidnon
MALAYBALAY CITY | BUKIDNON NEWS | CRIMES IN BUKIDNON – Three construction vehicles were burned by alleged members of the New Peoples Army at around 12:15 past midnight June 20, 2011. The vehicles were owned by the Kalpataru Contractor and these were kept within its compound at Barangay Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
News reports say that the rebels forcibly entered the company-owned compound and took one caliber .38 pistol from one of the Kalpataru Contractor security guards. Allegedly, the suspects numbered to around 10. After they got the security guard’s gun, they then pooled all the workers in the compound and then introduced themselves as members of the NPA.
The suspects allegedly burned a canter truck, a crane and a mini dump truck. The suspects then fled towards a remote barangay in Malaybalay.
The army blasted the act and called it “a ruthless act of terrorism.”
Maj. Gen. Victor A. Felix, Commander of the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division said that the said act of terrorism should end.
“These acts of terrorism and cruelty amongst our businesses and the civilian populace should end. It is obvious that the burning is a result of desperation from the rebels to earn money by means of extorting from our business community,” Felix said.
