Malaybalay rice farmers receive seeds, fertilizers from DA

Rice seeds and fertilizers worth Php 48 Million have recently been distributed to Malaybalay farmers in 27 barangays. The Department of Agriculture Region X led the distribution on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

The farmers received agri inputs comprising of inbred and hybrid seeds for the dry planting season as well as 16,575 bags of inorganic fertilizer amounting to Php 16.57 million.

Carlene C. Collado, DA-10 regional executive director, said that the agency aims to lower the production cost and improve the rice productivity and adequacy of farmers.

He added that the combined outcome of government interventions and continued strong partnerships with farmer cooperatives, associations, rice industry stakeholders, and local government units will boost rice efficiency.

Malaybalay City, the capital of Bukidnon, has an estimated 4,999 hectares of rice fields with an average yield of around 5.7 metric tons per hectare.
