Two rebels surrender in Bukidnon

Two members of the New People’s Army rebels operating in Bukidnon voluntarily surrendered to the army’s 8th Infantry (Dependable) Battalion under Lt. Col. Jose Maria R Cuerpo II, Commanding Officer, based in Maramag, Bukidnon on January 6 at around 10:30 a.m.

The suspected NPAs further known as Nelio D. Padao Aka Raymond, Squad Leader of Squad 3 and Judy D. Padao Aka Renan, regular members of Squad 3, all of Sangay sa Platon Pampropaganda 3, Guerilla Front 6, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) operating in the area of San Fernando, Bukidnon.

The two rebels brought their firearms: one (1) M16 rifle bearing SN RP054126 with 144 rounds of ammunitions loaded in the nine (9) short magazines and one (1) USAS-12 gauge DAEWO rifle bearing SN: F600340 with one (1) magazine and twenty (20) rounds of ammunition were formally turned over to 8IB.

Major General Victor A. Felix, the Army’s 4th Infantry Division Commander, welcomed the two former rebels, citing that ideological and political differences can be resolved through peaceful means without resorting to violence.

The two NPAs are now undergoing custodial debriefing at the 8IB Headquarters for documentation as requirement for the availment of Local Social Integration Program benefits. (news release from 4CMO/PIA-10)
