San Fernando Bukidnon to benefit from P9.3M INSPIRE program

The local government unit of San Fernando, Bukidnon, will soon benefit from the P9.3 million Department of Agriculture (DA) -10’s Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) program.

A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the P5.5 million biosecured swine facility, which is part of the INSPIRE program. A drug and biologics worth Php 75,000 was also turned over during the same event.

After completion of the facility’s construction, San Fernando local government will get 300 piglets worth P2.3 million and 550 bags of feed worth 1.3 million.

The program aims to expand the swine and breeder base while supporting local livelihoods through swine production.

Meanwhile, a focal person from the Agri department emphasized that the LGU will manage the provided agri interventions. This aid aims to repopulate Bukidnon’s swine industry, which suffered setbacks due to the looming threat of African Swine Fever in past years that affected neighboring provinces.

The DA launched INSPIRE to implement calibrated repopulation and enhancement of the local swine industry to recover the sector’s capacity to produce a sufficient supply of hogs and pork. (With a report from the MPMT/DA-10/PIA 10-Bukidnon)
