Police suspects NPA members killed former Barangay Sumpong chief
MALAYBALAY CITY NEWS | CRIME – Authorities in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon suspect that members of the rebel group National People’s Army (NPA) may have killed former Barangay Sumpong, Malaybalay City chief and police inspector Cresencio Penaso.
Penaso was killed at around 7:40pm last February 26, 2010. Armed men reportedly shot Penaso to death. Penaso sustained 9 gunshot wounds in various parts of his body.
Reports from the Malaybalay City police station state that Penaso and Rustom Sinatao were drinking in Penaso’s home kitchen. There were also 7 unidentified men who stayed at Penaso’s videoke bar, located just a few steps away from the victim’s home. Reports also say that when Sinatao, a neighbor of the Penasos, left at around 7:40pm, Penaso went to the videoke bar. Two suspects then entered the establishment and shot him.
A 9mm pistol slug, a .45 pistol slug and a total of 4 shells were recovered from the crime scene.
