Local police arrest woman with P2 million worth of fake cigarettes in Bukidnon
Barangay officials in Marapange, Kibawe reported the selling of counterfeit cigarettes in their area and, responding to the tip, local police conducted an operation and arrested a 62-year-old woman.
Authorities seized a large amount of counterfeit cigarettes from the suspect, totaling 149 boxes and 18 reams. The confiscated cigarettes have an estimated value of over Php 2 million.
The woman now faces charges for violating the Tax Reform Act (RA 8424).
Police Brigadier General Ricardo Layug Jr., Director of Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), commended the operating unit for their success.
