Mural art contest held
The first-ever mural art contest was held at the Bukidnon Police Provincial Office (BPPO) in Malaybalay City on May 5, 2021. The front wall of the police headquarters served as the painting contest participants’ “canvasses.”
BPPO Public Information Officer Major Jiselle Ester Lou M. Longakit said that the activity aimed to support Executive Order (EO) 70 of President Rodrigo Duterte, a whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflict. Longakit also claimed that the painting contest was the idea of BPPO Provincial Director Col. Jun Mark Lagare.
The Bukidnon mural contest drew in a total of 31 entries from the province’s 2 cities and 20 town police stations. Longakit clarified that some police stations had double entries. There were also entrants from the 2 Bukidnon Police Mobile Force teams.
“The police stations sponsored the expenses of their chosen civilian artist/s. All entries were checked first by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bukidnon to ensure that it is in line with the view of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC),” Longakit said.
Cash prizes were in store. The first prize winner received Php 10,000 cash, Php 7,000 went to the second placer and Php 5,000 for the third placer. Consolation prizes of Php 1,000 cash were also distributed.
