Bukidnon to buy 1.2 million COVID-19 vaccine doses
The Provincial Government of Bukidnon (PGB) is accordingly in the process of procuring 1.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Bukidnon Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr. recently spoke before Bukidnon mayors, heads of PGB offices, and top officials of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan including Vice Governor Rogelio Quino in a meeting at Folk Arts Theater, Malaybalay City and revealed the said plan to purchase the vaccine doses.
An initial budget of Php 300 Million is reportedly ready to be used for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines made by AstraZeneca. According to Zubiri, a vaccine dose made by the said company costs about Php 600.
Bukidnon has a population of 1,415,226, according to a 2015 census.
Since a person needs to receive 2 doses of vaccine, 1.2 million doses will only cover 600,000 people.
Meanwhile, Valencia City has reportedly allotted Php 20 Million to purchase vaccine doses for their constituents. (with a report from Bukidnon Online correspondent Mel Madera)
