Bukidnon solon warns ‘abusive’ rice traders, vows to go after them

Bukidnon Second District Congressman Atty. Jonathan Keith “John” Flores has issued a warning against “abusive” rice traders and even vowed to go after them should they continue with their “unnecessary and excessive” price mark-ups.

In a statement, Congressman Flores said that reports of “rice traders taking advantage of the current COVID-19 pandemic in order to mark prices up excessively and unnecessarily” have reached his office.

He then said that he strongly condemns such acts.

Here’s the rest of Bukidnon Second District Rep. Atty. John Flores’ statement:

Please be reminded that we are living in extraordinary times. Let us not use this current crisis to take advantage of others, especially those who do not or barely have access to basic necessities such as rice.

I have asked various government agencies and community partners to report to me individuals and businesses that defy anti-hoarding and anti-panic buying policies. I will not hesitate to go after you.

In the meantime, I continue to strongly urge everyone to please stay home, remain calm, follow government-issued mandates, wash your hands, take care of yourselves and your loved ones and pray. Thank you for your cooperation. We win when we act as one.

Thank you and may God bless us all.
