FINALLY: Bukidnon Kaamulan Festival has fixed dates every year
FINALLY. After 40 years, the annual Kaamulan Festival in Bukidnon now has set dates every year. This means that starting 2019, tourists, guests, visitors interested to witness the only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines can plan accordingly.
This is definitely a good development, especially since more and more people want to participate in the Kaamulan Festival celebration in Bukidnon, which is a yearly gathering of the 7 hill tribes of the Province of Bukidnon namely:
Talaandig
Tigwahanun
Matigsalug
Higaonon
Bukidnon
Manobo
Umayamnun
By virtue of a provincial resolution authored by Bukidnon District 2 Board Member Atty. Jun Beltran, the Kaamulan Festival will now be held from March 23 to April 23 every year.
The sitting Bukidnon governor, however, has the authority to extend or change the dates but only if there is a need and if there’s a justifiable reason to do so. The sitting governor also has the authority to move the festival to a different schedule but again, only if there’s a justifiable reason to do so.
The Kaamulan Festival draws thousands of people to Bukidnon, most particularly in Malaybalay City, the capital and where most of the events take place. Bukidnon Online regularly posts Kaamulan schedule of activities. Check the previous schedules so you can have an idea of the festival highlights.
The biggest crowd drawer is undoubtedly the Ethnic Street Dancing Competition. If you plan to witness that, best to already book your accommodations early since Malaybalay doesn’t have enough lodging places yet.
