Young girl dies from meningococcemia

According to news reports, a 7 year-old girl succumbed to the deadly illness called meningococcemia. The young girl is from Kibawe, Bukidnon.
The victim’s name was Imae Ampoloquio. She was brought to the Bukidnon Provincial Hospital in Kibawe Monday afternoon.
Unfortunately, Ampoloquio died two hours after she was admitted to the said hospital.
Reports say that the hospital has been disinfected and patients who were near the patient were given prophylaxis. Health authorities also urged the victim’s parents to immediately bury the remains to prevent others from being infected.
Among the symptoms of the disease are fever, presence of red or purple rash, headache, muscle pain, nausea and vomiting.
