Attack against Bukidnon media man reportedly a hoax; Radyo Abante guy was “drunk”
BUKIDNON NEWS | BUKIDNON MEDIA – ABSOLUTELY MAJOR, MAJOR FAIL!!! *Ugh* Oh well. It seems that the news report about that Bukidnon media man who was attacked is allegedly A BIG HOAX. Unfortunately, the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) was the one that first announced the alleged attack and of course, because the “victim” was a media practitioner in Bukidnon, we and a lot other media outlets were quick to jump to the gun. Major fail.
Apparently, DXGT Radyo Abante commentator Randy Makiputin, 39 years old, was allegedly not ambushed after all. This, according to witnesses who say that Makiputin was drunk and that he merely sustained his so-called “head injury” when the motorcycle he drove crashed and even sideswept one of the witnesses. Two of the witnesses were minors who were reportedly on their way home.
Moreover, authorities say that Makiputin was even the one who shot at his alleged attackers. The two people whom Makiputin pointed as suspects have already reportedly filed their affidavits stating that they were the ones who were shot at by the said broadcaster.
Makiputin reportedly claimed that he sustained a slight gun shot wound on his head. He later on claimed that his doctor found a slight laceration on his head and not a gun shot wound.
Rowena Paraan of NUJP said that their group was correcting their earlier news dispatch about Makiputin’s “ambush.”
Since the incident, Makiputin has not released any other statement.
Makiputin anchors a show dubbed “Super Gitik” in DXGT Radyo Abante. Radyo Abante is a radio station based in Maramag, Bukidnon.
Bukidnon police say they will file a complaint against Randy Makiputin.
