El Niño to hit Bukidnon – PAGASA
Irregular light rains have been keeping the province of Bukidnon dry and abnormally warm during this week.
Chief Meteorological Officer Anianita Fortich of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) based in Bukidnon said the present rainfall condition in the province is now unusually way below normal.
“These are clear manifestations of the upcoming El Niño not only in Bukidnon but in the whole country,” she said.
In the latest El Niño Advisory issued by PAGASA, some provinces in Northern Mindanao also experienced below normal rainfall condition.
Also, some provinces in Mindanao namely Davao del Sur, South Cotabato, Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat, exhibited three (3) to four (4) consecutive months of below normal rainfall.
PAGASA now closely monitors these conditions and regularly giving the public updates / advisories.
“Concerned agencies are advised to take precautionary measures to mitigate the potential adverse impacts of this looming dry spell,” Fortich said. (PIA 10-Bukidnon press release / by Ruby Balistoy)
