Zubiri releases statement, denies fraud allegations anew

Following a testimony made by a certain Ahmad “Loi” Mamucao, allegedly a former consultant of former Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan, Sr., former Senator Juan Miguel “Migs” Zubiri has released a statement denying fraud allegations anew. Zubiri blasted Mamucao and said that Mamucao’s allegations linking Zubiri to election fraud were “utter, utter lies.”

During a Senate joint committee inquiry today, Mamucao said that he went to Maramag, Bukidnon and delivered about 60 boxes full of election paraphernalia to Cotabato City. This allegedly happened before the 2007 elections. Mamucao also claimed that a nephew of Migs Zubiri, a fellow named “Rudy,” contacted him for a “special operation” in Bukidnon. Mamucao also said that he met up with a certain “Alex” from Zubiri’s camp.

Former Senator Miguel Zubiri released the following statement right after Mamucao’s testimony:

“Once again my detractors launched a demolition job against me, I would like to categorically say that all those statements are lies and are out to destroy all the goodwill that we have done for the people. First of all, I will never tolerate cheating and I resigned from my post precisely because I will never accept a win like that. Second is that I have no cousin named Rudy or Alex which goes to show the lies they are peddling and third the timing is suspect since a new major survey has come out last week that we were in magic 8 and so my detractors are moving heaven and earth to discredit me.”
