New minimum wage for Bukidnon and rest of Northern Mindanao

Good news for workers in Bukidnon and the rest of Northern Mindanao especially those earning minimum wage. The Department of Labor and Employment regional office has announced that the required minimum wage has increased and that the increase is effective last July 14, 2017.

The daily minimum wage increase of Php 20.00 is applicable to both agriculture and non-agriculture sector workers.

This is the first wage increase in Northern Mindanao under the Duterte administration.

This is the breakdown:

Non-agriculture workers in Malaybalay City, Valencia City, Maramag, Quezon, Manolo Fortich should now earn Php 331.00 per day.

Same increased rate for non-agriculture workers in Gingoog City, El Salvador City, Ozamiz City and Opol.

Meanwhile, agriculture workers in Malaybalay City, Valencia City, Maramag, Quezon and Manolo Fortich, they should now earn Php 319.00 per day.

For other areas in Northern Mindanao:

From the current Php 318 daily income, non-agriculture workers in Cagayan de Oro, Iligan City, Tagoloan, Villanueva, and Jasaan will now earn P338 daily. Agricultural workers in the same areas will now earn P326 daily.

For Oroquieta City, Tangub City, Lugait, Laguindingan, and Mambajao, Camiguin, non-agricultural earners will now receive Php 323 daily while agricultural workers in the same areas should now earn Php 311 daily.

For workers in all other areas, they should now earn Php 316 daily.

Under law, refusal by employers to pay the prescribed adjusted wage is punishable by a fine not exceeding P25,000 and/or imprisonment of not less than one year nor more than two years.
