Mindanao’s first Senior Citizen community care center opens in Malaybalay City Bukidnon
To mark a significant milestone in elderly care, the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) inaugurated its first Senior Citizens Community Care Center (SC3C) in Malaybalay City on October 23, 2024. This groundbreaking facility is the first in Mindanao and one of only three SC3Cs nationwide.
The center offers senior citizens a dedicated space for comprehensive care that upholds their dignity and independence. It will provide holistic services, including health and wellness programs, social support, livelihood assistance, and other essential resources tailored to meet the unique needs of elderly citizens.
Recognizing the growing needs of Malaybalay City’s aging population, Malaybalay Mayor Jay Warren R. Pabillaran is firm in establishing the SC3C to provide a dedicated space where senior citizens could receive quality care, engage in social activities, and enjoy a fulfilling later life.
Mayor Pabillaran expressed his joy and optimism that the facility will serve as a model for senior citizen services across the city and the province of Bukidnon.
“I am so happy that we now have a facility dedicated to our senior citizens. It is not just a personal achievement but a success for all the people of Malaybalay,” he said.
The SC3C will serve as a “one-stop shop” for services that embodies a whole-of-nation approach, ensuring that senior citizens receive comprehensive care, including wellness programs, medical services, and various government-provided opportunities.
