Makati mayor Binay nearly 3 hours late in courtesy call to Malaybalay mayor
MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON – Makati City Mayor Jejomar “Jojo” Binay was almost three hours late in his scheduled courtesy call to Malaybalay City Mayor Florencio T. Flores, Jr.
Binay, who recently visited the Province of Bukidnon to finalize “twin city” agreements with the Municipality of Kalilangan, Bukidnon and Valencia City, Bukidnon, was supposed to meet Flores at 4:30 PM. Organizers moved the meeting to 5:30 PM, however, saying that Binay’s press conference in Valencia City took longer than expected.
No Binay showed up at 5:30 PM, however. Instead, the Makati City mayor, along with the rest of his entourage, arrived at the People’s Hall at around 7:15 PM.
“He was apologetic but nasayang pud niya ang chance. People thought that the courtesy call will no longer take place mao tong nanguli na ang uban,” a well-placed source told Bukidnon Online.
The source said that many of the city councilors as well as barangay officials left the People’s Hall before Binay’s arrival. Flores, on the other hand, was present and welcomed the Makati City mayor.
Organizers of Binay’s Bukidnon visit sent a formal letter-request in line with the courtesy call to the Office of the Malaybalay City Mayor.
Binay, touted as one of the “Presidentiables” in next year’s national elections, also paid Cagayan de Oro City a visit. He was the guest speaker of a fraternity’s gathering.
