Kaamulan Festival 2010 preparations underway
BUKIDNON | MALAYBALAY CITY | KAAMULAN FESTIVAL | BUKIDNON UPDATES – How fast time flies, eh? In just a matter of weeks, it’ll be the 2010 Kaamulan Festival! The Kaamulan Festival, as we all know, is the much-awaited annual gathering of the 7 hill tribes of Bukidnon. This festival, which Tourism Secretary Ace Durano dubbed as “the only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines,” is the biggest one here in the Province of Bukidnon and draws hundreds of thousands of people.

Anyways, initial information gathered from the Bukidnon Tourism Office reveal that there will be more contingents for the 2010 Kaamulan Festival Ethnic Street Dancing Competition this year. The street dancing contest will tentatively be held on March 6, 2010 in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Some of the events and festival highlights will also be “transferred” to other parts of Malaybalay City and will not just be centered at the Capitol Grounds, where most of the large events are held.
Bukidnon Tourism Officer May Flor Beltran-Intong also said that last year’s events and festival highlights will still be implemented this year.
Bukidnon Online asked the representatives of some of the major sponsors of last year’s events and they said that they will continue to support the provincial government and will still implement the same events.
Now, since 2010 is an election year, expect the presence of a lot of candidates seeking for various political posts. Incumbent Bukidnon Governor Jose Zubiri, Jr. (who will seek for the vice gubernatorial position in May) is running under the LAKAS CMD KAMPI banner so let’s see if presidential candidate Gibo Teodoro and partymates will come and grace the festival.
