Four toddlers in Valencia hospital contract virus
Four toddler patients of Medidas Medical Center, Inc. (MMCI) in Valencia City, Bukidnon have contracted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The 4 young ones are among the 27 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 reported on October 5, 2020, the highest number of cases reported in a single day in Valencia.
The City Government of Valencia, in its public advisory, said the four are identified as Case No. 100, Case No. 102, Case No. 107 and Case No. 111.
Case No. 100 is a year old male from Purok 2, Brgy. Lumbayao, Case No. 102 is a 1-year-old male from Purok 4, Brgy. Barobo, Case No. 107 is 1-year-old male from Purok 4, Brgy. Laligan, and Case No. 111 is a 6-month old female from Purok 2, Lower Sugod.
The said babies are among the 8 patients admitted in the said hospital. Eight patient watchers and 3 workers in MMCI also contracted the virus.
In the list released by the Department of Health on October 5, 2020, other identified patients included 7 co-workers of a merchandizer of Roy Plaza in Valencia.
The Medidas Hospital management released a statement ensuring the welfare of their staff and safety of the community.
A localized lockdown and focused containment has also taken effect. It will last until October 12.To recall, Case No. 84, a 64-year old female resident of Purok 2, Brgy. Poblacion was the first fatality of COVID-19 in Valencia. She died Sept. 29.
As of Oct. 7, Valencia City has a total of 133 COVID-19 confirmed positive cases with 71 active cases, 61 recoveries and one death. (Report by BukidnonOnline.com correspondent Mel B. Madera)
