Flores is first-ever PHL congressman to host DICT Tech4ED facility

Historical! A neophyte congressman in Bukidnon, 2nd District Rep. Atty. John Flores, made history by being the very first congressman in the entire Philippines to host a Tech4ED facility. This was formalized during a recent memorandum of agreement signing and turnover of equipment in Cabanglasan, Bukidnon.

Tech4ED, which means “Technology for Education to gain Employment, train Entrepreneurs towards Economic Development,” is a key project of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The project aims to provide access points for individuals and communities to bridge the digital and education divide and harness the power of ICT in society towards creating a progressive countryside.

Tech4Ed also promotes grassroots development and opportunities for inclusive growth and poverty reduction. It will give communities access to information, communication, technology, government services, non-formal education, skills training, telehealth, job markets, and business portals.

During the turnover ceremony, Flores announced that his office will host 3 Tech4ED facilities in Cabanglasan, Impasugong and Lantapan.

DICT Mindanao Cluster 2 Director Evamay Dela Rosa was also present during the turnover of the various computer equipment.

She praised Flores for making a bold and noble move to host the facilities. She emphasized that it is crucial for the government to introduce ICT as it can help improve their lives. She said that men, women, senior citizens, persons with disability, out-of-school youth, unemployed folks — everyone can use the Tech4ED facilities.

Flores urged everyone to use the facilities properly. “Use it to look for jobs, prepare your resume, apply for birth certificates and more. Maximize the power of being digitally connected,” he said.

Tech4Ed has six segments to offer the marginalized sector digital opportunities in the easiest and most accessible way possible. These are eEduSkills, eAssist, eAssess, mAgri, mMarketplace and eGovServ which all has a special function on a specific purpose from educational, job readiness and business tracking, to government office document transactions.
