The Transportation Secretary said the inspection followed a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to expedite the Bukidnon Airport Development Project to ensure immediate benefits for passengers and tourists.

The deadline for the completion of all facilities at the Bukidnon Airport located in Maray Maray, Don Carlos is set for November 30, 2026.

“Meeting the November 30 deadline is critical for launching turboprop operations by December. While the 149-hectare facility is designed for Airbus A320 jets, initial phases will focus on smaller propeller aircraft to hit the year-end target. Larger jet services are slated to follow in the first quarter of 2027 once all support facilities are fully integrated,” the transpo chief said.

The Bukidnon airport project includes Php 320 million for ancillary facilities, part of the government’s effort to expand infrastructure and air travel access in Mindanao.
