Fire at Valencia City Bukidnon two days after Christmas Day
VALENCIA CITY – Fire razed several stalls in front of Gaisano Valencia City barely two days after Christmas Day 2009. These stalls were temporary, makeshift ones for the vendors that were also victims of the Valencia City public market fire last year.
Fire hit these stalls at around 11 in the morning Sunday, December 27, 2009.
News reports say that the fire the started from a stall that sold firecrackers. The fire quickly spread and then swallowed the other nearby stalls in a matter of minutes.
The stalls that got hit by the fire used to sell various merchandise — from used clothes to pre-owned TV sets, pirated DVDs, DVD players, toys and personal effects.
Ironically, the area where the Sunday fire hit was also the same area where the old public market stood. The old market was hit by fire last year and a new one is set to be erected next year.
