MALAYBALAY CITY, BUKIDNON – Perhaps he’s really just too darn busy. This is the impression that I got when I learned that Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Director Jerome dela Rosaonce again snubbed the invitation extended to him by the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bukidnon.

The DPWH Regional Director was asked to appear in the last two sessions of the Bukidnon Provincial Board in order to shed light on the status of the ongoing road rehabilitation at the Mangima area in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. The ongoing road repair and rehabilitation project in Mangima, Manolo Fortich has caused a lot of inconvenience for the riding public and is currently the reason for heavy, often bottleneck, traffic in the said area.

Last week, dela Rosa reportedly only sent a deputy to appear before the Bukidnon board members. Yesterday, dela Rosa was again a no-show, according to Bukidnon Second District Board Member Atty. Jun Beltran.

“Guest namin dapat siya today (during the SP session) to tell us what’s happening in the Mangima Road rehabilitation,” said Beltran in his text message to Bukidnon Online yesterday, Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

Today, Thursday, March 19, 2009, Beltran told me that the DPWH Region 10 Director was again a no-show. However, an agreement has been reached between the members of the SP and DPWH that there will only be a “10-minute interval” per side of the road so that the traffic will be “better managed.”

Beltran also said that they’re giving dela Rosa “one last chance to attend the next session.” (MISA/Bukidnon Online)
