DENR Bukidnon accused of forging dubious deal with former Kibawe mayor
MARAMAG, BUKIDNON – This is a pretty alarming piece of news. According to an article printed in a regional newspaper, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is accused of a dubious deal with a cattle ranch owner, who happens to be the former Kibawe, Bukidnon mayor, and who allegedly hired goons to harass Bukidnon farmers.
Unfazed of the total gun ban policy imposed by the Commission on Elections, alleged goons of former Kibawe Municipal mayor Ernesto Villalon fired multiple gunshots to farmers of the Panalsalan Dagumbaan Tribal Association (Padata) in Barangay Dagumbaan.
The farmers were then building their fence inside this expired ranch to protect their farming areas from the roaming cattles of Villalon.
The goons, including a barangay kagawad identified as Rey Coronel, allegedly mauled a farmer named Virgilio Adriasin.
Together with Coronel, other identified armed with guns are Benito Emostino, Eddie Boy Arias, Bobong de Asis and Anton Abapo, who allegedly rained bullets and destroyed the farmers’ shanties in the afternoon of May 30.
