Defeated Valencia City councilor vows to continue public service
BUKIDNON | COMMENTARY | PERSONAL | VALENCIA CITY | PERSONALITIES | POLITICS – Defeated Valencia City Councilor Atty. Oliver Owen “Babba” Garcia has vowed to continue serving the public. This, despite suffering a rather unexpected failed bid in getting another term. Garcia is an incumbent Valencia City Bukidnon councilor and is on his second term.
In an interview with Bukidnon Online, Garcia, a popular young lawyer and a very active officer of the Philippine Councilors League, said that his first project would have something to do with the reported 600 rejected votes in Valencia City, Bukidnon.
Reports state that rejected ballots in Valencia City during the last May 10, 2010 elections reached roughly 600.
Garcia lost his bid by only a little above 120 votes.
The Valencia City lawyer said that he will look into this issue further in the hope of protecting votes and the voters as well.
Garcia also told Bukidnon Online that he and his family have already accepted the result of the election and that he remains grateful to the people of Valencia City.
“I look forward to serving the people in many other ways. Public service should not end because of the results of the elections. I will continue to serve and hopefully, if the opportunity comes, I may serve in government once again,” Garcia said.
