The Bukidnon E-CLIP Committee distributed a total of Php 1.7 million on August 13, 2020 to the 38 Former Rebels (FRs), 23 of whom were considered “Regular” NPAs and 15 were “People’s Militia” or “Militia ng Bayan.”
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Bukidnon Center said the awarding ceremony was held at Kaamulan Folk Arts Theater, Kaamulan Grounds, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
The 23 “Regulars” received Php 50,000 livelihood assistance and an additional Php 15,000 cash for “immediate assistance” each.
Meanwhile, each “Militia ng Bayan” also received Php 15,000 cash as “immediate assistance.”
Michael Lumawag, former political instructor of the CPP-NPA’s North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC), urged other rebels to surrender so that they can live in peace.
“I call on my colleagues who remain supportive to CPP-NPA movement to surrender because the government is ready to support and help us to improve our lives,” he said. (report from Bukidnon Online special correspondent Mel B. Madera)
