Talakag soon to have a regional food terminal
The Municipality of Talakag will soon have a Regional Food Terminal or a trading post for farmers, traders and buyers. This, in an effort to help ensure food security and boost the income of local farmers.
The Talakag trading post will be worth Php 14 Million and is seen to benefit not only Talakag farmers, traders and residents but those from nearby municipalities, towns and provinces as well.
Authorities say that the said trading post will be operational by 2021.
The Talakag Regional Food Terminal also aims to cut out the participation of middlemen. This will result in a significant increase in terms of income for the local farmers.
Talakag has a potential production area of around 11,000 hectares. The municipality is known for producing high value vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, white potato, cabbage, lettuce and cauliflower.
