BUKIDNON ONLINE | BUKIDNON NEWS | BUKIDNON UPDATES | SUMILAO BUKIDNON NEWS – Talk about a historic 10/10/10. After three long years, the Sumilao farmers, who first grabbed the attention of the country after they walked from Bukidnon to Manila to fight for their land, have received a total of 147 hectares last October 10, 2010. The Sumilao farmers received the Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) which attested they now own the 147 hectares.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Jun Celestiano and DAR Sec. Virgilio de los Reyes gave the CLOA to Yoyong Merida, Chairman of the PANAW Sumilao MPC. Interestingly, however, the certificate is also the first one bearing the signature of Atty. De los Reyes since his appointment by Pres. Benigno Aquino III.

AKBAYAN Party List Rep. Arlene Bag-ao and Bukidnon First District Rep. Jess Paras were also present during the turn-over.
