Quezon, Bukidnon municipal councilor Rodrigo Neri, Jr., 33 years old, was shot early morning today, February 6, 2020, at South Poblacion, Maramag, Bukidnon.

Neri, who ran as an independent candidate in the 2019 elections, was with a certain Ben Edulano, a Kitaotao, Bukidnon resident, and 4 others when the shooting happened.

According to an RMN news report by Jun Maban, Neri, Edulano and their companions were aboard a pick-up vehicle on their way home to Quezon from a derby at Maramag Cockpit Arena. They stopped at the P3 South Poblacion, Maramag area at 2 in the morning to get hot beverages when two unidentified suspects aboard two different motorcycles shot them.

The victims were taken to a nearby hospital. According to Maramag police chief Lt. Col. Casam Ali, Neri endured at least 5 gunshot wounds. There were .45 caliber slugs found in the area.

Authorities are still investigating the incident including the possible motive for the shooting.
