The proposed Bukidnon provincial sport
Bukidnon Online received information that a resolution has been filed before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Council) that would make a popular sport in Bukidnon to finally be the official one. Bukidnon Second District Board Member Atty. Nemesio Beltran, Jr. has filed a proposal to make rodeo the official sport in Bukidnon.
Bukidnon Online reached out to Beltran and he confirmed this. He said, however, that the proposal is still up for 3rd reading and if it passes, it will still need the governor’s signature.
Rodeo is a competitive sport. It traces its roots from that of the working practices of cattle. Rodeo is a popular sport in Bukidnon and is always included in annual Kaamulan Festival activities. Kaamulan Rodeo is also always a crowd drawer.
The Municipality of Impasugong in Bukidnon is also recognized as the “Home of the Country’s Finest Cowboys.” It even served as the main filming location of the Piolo Pascual-Angel Locsin starrer “Love Me Again (Land Down Under).”
