NPA rebels sorry for death of boy in Bukidnon raid
Remember our previous post about a boy who died in a San Fernando, Bukidnon crossfire between the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels and the Philippine Army? A 12-year old boy was accidentally killed when about 50 rebels raided the 69th Infantry Battalion in Sitio Mahayag, Barangay Namnam.
Now, the NPA rebels are saying sorry.
NPA spokesperson Allan Juanito has been quoted as saying, “We are sorry for the untimely death of the boy and we will try our best to connect with the family of the victim so that we can extend our indemnification and assistance. We hope we can also help in the burial of the victim.”
That raid resulted in the death of a soldier. Two rebels were wounded. Various firearms including a mini-sub machine gun, M-14 rifles, M-16 rifles, grenade launcher and pistols were seized by the rebels.
The soldiers deployed in the area were supposed to provide security to the construction of the Bukidnon – Davao del Norte road project.
