Neric Acosta seeks Congress comeback
Dr. Juan Romeo Nereus “Neric” O. Acosta is seeking a comeback in Congress. This time, however, he is running as an Independent candidate.
Acosta was the first to file his certificate of candidacy at the Office of the Provincial Election Supervisor at 8:03 am, October 1, 2021. He is gunning for the First District Congressional seat. Bukidnon First District is comprised of the municipalities of Manolo Fortich, Sumilao, Malitbog, Talakag, Libona and Baungon.
Acosta served as a 3-term congressman in 1998 to 2007. He tried to run for the Senate in 2010 but lost. He later became a Presidential Adviser and General Manager of the Laguna Lake Development Authority from 2011 to 2016.
Meanwhile, Acosta will face two other candidates namely Andres A. Eligan Jr. of the Labor Party of the Philippines (LPP) and Jose Manuel F. Alba of the Bukidnon Paglaum Party (BPP). Incidentally, Alba is Acosta’s brother-in-law.
