MOA inked for IP village in Malaybalay
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Php 20 Million Daraghuyan Tribal Village has been signed. The said tribal village, which will see 80 housing units, will be constructed inside the Daraghuyan Tribe Ancestral Domain area in Barangay Dalwangan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Malaybalay City Mayor Florencio T. Flores Jr., Bae Inatlawan Adelina Tarino of Daraghuyan Tribe and National Housing Authority District Manager of Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte offices Engr. Madeleine Gilda S. Abellera were all in attendance for the signing ceremony.
Mayor Flores expressed his gratitude to NHA for assisting the housing plan and pledged full support for the project.
Bae Tarino, on the other hand, acknowledged the efforts of the previous and current administrations for the realization of the project.
Accordingly, the project plan reached the Sangguniang Panlungsod in 2016 during the administration of former Mayor Ignacio Zubiri but was implemented in the current term of Mayor Flores.
Abellera also clarified that in 2016 the allocation was only Php 10 million but it was doubled this time.
“Housing project for Indigenous Peoples (IPs) is one of the priorities of President Rodrigo Duterte. The Php 20 million grant will be downloaded to the Local Government Unit of Malaybalay as the implementing agency of the project,” Abellera said.
She said each housing unit is worth P250,000.
“The project that will be completed within 210 Calendar Days will be covering about two hectares inside the Ancestral Domain of Daraghuyan Tribe in Brgy. Dalwangan. The housing is a single detached type (with division inside for two bedrooms) with 80 sq.m. lot area, 20 sq.m. ground floor area and 10 sq.m. second-floor area, will have CHB walling and with corrugated sheet roofing,” Abellera said.
The housing project will also have water and power line connections. The NCIP approved the Bukidnon-Daraghuyan Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title covering 4,203 hectares on March 2010. (with a report from Mel B. Madera)
