Malaybalay Water District ordered to return unauthorized bonuses
The Commission on Audit (COA) has ordered the Malaybalay City Water District (MCWD) to return the Php 1.776 Million in unauthorized bonuses, incentives and allowances paid to their officials and employees.
Malaybalay Water District is apparently one of the 28 government-owned and controlled corporations that have released unauthorized bonuses. A total of P626 million have reportedly been released by the 28 GOCCs.
In a 2014 Annual Financial Report on GOCCs released on Oct. 31, the audit agency said the state firms violated the rules on the allowable salaries, allowances and bonuses for GOCC officials and employees.
The COA ordered the GOCCs to return the amount to the government through notices of disallowance.
For its part, Malacañang said the 28 GOCCs should heed the COA’s order to return the unauthorized allowances and other incentives paid to their officials and employees last year.
According to the Malaybalay City Water District website, its board of directors is composed of Engr. Jorge Lagumbay (Chairman), Dr. Violeta Tabios, Manny Cudal, Roberto Tinsay, Jr. and Atty. Nemesio Beltran.
The General Manager listed is Juanito Aroa but MCWD also released a job vacancy announcement for the GM position. Malaybalay City Water District is currently accepting applications for the General Manager post and will do so until February 2016.
