Some CCTV camera screenshots uploaded by a Malaybalay City business owner are making the rounds of social media.

Al Antipasado, who runs a food-related business, uploaded via social networking site Facebook some images that show the faces of male vandals who apparently spray painted the facade of his business establishment. Another image showed the spray painted vandal.

Since uploading the photos, a lot of people have left comments – most venting out anger over the incident, some urging Antipasado to file cases and some hinting that they know who the perpetrators are.

In the Philippines, there’s an “Anti Vandalism Law” in effect. Vandalism is defined as “the willful act that damage or deface property belonging to another person or to the public. Examples of this act are writing, drawing, painting, marking or inscribing on any public or private property, any word, slogan, caricature, drawing, mark, symbol; affixing, posting up or displaying on any public or private property any advertisement, bill or notice, without the consent of the owner of the property.”

In addition to payment of the expenses for restoration of the property vandalized, those found guilty of committing the offense can also be mandated to do community service plus pay fines of at least Php 5,000 (on top of the restoration expenses).
