Lantapan Bukidnon teen athlete shines, sets new javelin record
A high school student from Lantapan, Bukidnon is gaining attention in this year’s Palarong Pambansa 2017 after she achieved a new record in the javelin throw sport category.
Incoming Grade 11 student Sylvian Faith Abunda of Lantapan National High School just set an impressive 42.85 meters in the secondary girls javelin throw.
Abunda achieved the record last April 25, 2017 at the Binirayan Sports Complex in Antique, venue of this year’s Palarong Pambansa.
According to published reports, Sylvian Faith Abunda is dedicating her success to her father, an agricultural engineer. Her parents separated in December 2016. According to Abunda, it was her father who took care of the family since her parents’ separation.
During the 2015 Palaro held in Tagum, Davao del Norte, Abunda’s teammate Efrelyn Democer set a 42.34 record. This time around, Abunda set a higher record on her fourth throw.
