Lacson-Sotto tandem confirmed for 2022; Zubiri included in their lineup
It’s confirmed! Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson will run for President in the 2022 national elections. His Vice President is Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III. The two will make an official announcement on August 4, 2021.
Lacson is an independent candidate while Sotto is part of the National People’s Coalition. Sotto said that their track record in government service, a combined 83 years of experience, will be their edge over other candidates. He said that the Lacson-Sotto tandem can offer “Kakayahan, katapatan, katapangan.”
The Lacson-Sotto senatorial lineup was also disclosed. Among those named were former Commission on Elections Commissioner Atty. Goyo Larrazabal, Chiz Escudero, JV Ejercito, Dick Gordon, Sherwin Gatchalian, Loren Legarda, Gringo Honasan, Joel Villanueva, Lucy Gomez and Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri.
The filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2022 elections is set for October.
Zubiri, for his part, released the following statement on his inclusion in the lineup:
“I’m honored and humbled by the Senate President’s endorsement of my reelection bid.
