We bring very bad news especially for those who already booked their hotels and flights and for those who already made schedule adjustments and preparations just to catch the Kaamulan Festival 2016 Ethnic Street Dancing Competition in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Bukidnon Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr. has apparently made a shocking announcement, with barely only 2 weeks before the supposed Kaamulan 2016 street dancing.

This is the message:

“SA MGA PINALANGGA KONG KATAWHAN DINHI SA PROBINSYA SA BUKIDNON, KINI ANG INYONG GOBERNADOR NONOY JOE ZUBIRI, NIINING NAGAPADAYON NGA SELEBRASYON SA KAAMULAN 2016, AKONG IPAHIBALO KANINYO NGA ANG ATONG STREET DANCING UG GROUND COMPETITION UBAN NA ANG FIREWORKS DISPLAY NGA IPAHIGAYON SA ABRIL 2, 2016, IBALHIN NA KINI SA ADLAW’NG BYERNES, ABRIL 1, 2016, DINHI SA CAPITOL GROUND SYUDAD SA MALAYBALAY. UBANI AKO NINYO SA PAGSAULOG NIINING DAKONG SELEBRASYON SA PANAGTIGUM SA PITO KA TRIBU DINHI SA ATONG PROBINSYA UG USAB ATONG MASAKSIHAN UG MAPAMINAWAN ANG ATONG HALANGDONG BISITA NGA MAGAHATAG KATUMANAN UG TUBAG SA ATONG MGA DAMGO SA ATONG NASUD. Essentially, this means that the street dancing, ground presentation and fireworks display will now be held on April 1, 2016, which is also coincidentally April Fool’s Day, at Capitol Grounds.

So these events will no longer be held on April 2.

And that the schedule change is also because a “halangdong bisita” will be available on April 1.

Personally, I feel really bad because the recent changes on the Kaamulan Festival dates and even on the venues (from Capitol to Grandstand) and activities have confused (and even angered) a lot of interested visitors and tourists. A lot of photographers from outside Bukidnon (and even from outside the Philippines) have also made the necessary adjustments.

What will happen now? Does the government care? Is this wise? Is Kaamulan still really for the Lumads or is it for politicians? Who are the FOOLS now?
