Gapuz assumes 403rd brigade command
Col. Romeo L. Gapuz accepted command of the 403rd Infantry ‘Peacemaker’ Brigade (403Bde) from Col. Nicanor E. Dolojan during the August 4 change of command ceremony at the Camp Bahian Grandstand, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
Major Gen. Mario F. Chan, 4th Infantry Division, Philippine Army (4ID, PA) Commander, presided over the ceremony which was attended by military officers and guests.
The 403Bde is a subordinate command of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division. It plans and executes contingency support for joint operations and, on order, provides contingency support nationwide.
Prior to selection for command, Gapuz served as the Chief of Staff of the Central Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He has also served in the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division in Negros Occidental.
In his speech, Gapuz urged all stakeholders to help him build an Army worthy of the people’s trust.
“With a supportive citizenry, your Army vows a service beyond the call of duty; a service with dedication, humility and professionalism; a service with battlefield victory as our objective but lasting peace as our goal,” Gapuz said.
On the other hand, outgoing brigade commander Col. Nicanor Dolojan expressed his faith and confidence to the new commander in facing the many challenges coming its way and in fulfilling the various missions of the organization.
Dolojan’s new assignment will be at Camp O’Donnell in Capas, Tarlac. He will be the new Deputy Commander of the Special Operations Command of the Philippine Army. (PIA Bukidnon – Ruby Balistoy)
