BUKIDNON, BUKIDNON NEWS, PROVINCE OF BUKIDNON – A huge fire damaged homes and commercial establishments in the Municipality of Kalilangan, Bukidnon Monday morning, March 16, 2009, according to a situational report furnished to the Provincial Police Command here in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

The fire reportedly occurred in the old public market area of the said Bukidnon town.

No casualties were reported but authorities estimate the damages to reach at least P1 Million.

Kalilangan mayor Nenita Suyao told Bukidnon Online via text message that more than 300 of her constituents may be affected because of the fire.

Suyao said that more than 50 families have lost their homes and stores because of the almost five-hour raze.

She also said that the municipal government is currently accepting donations (used clothing, food etc) for those affected by the damaging fire.

Although the incident is still under investigation, authorities believe that the fire started at a building owned by the Soccor family. (BUKIDNON NEWS)
