A Price Monitoring Team composed of 5 members were likewise hired and deployed to key cities and municipalities to regularly monitor prices of basic necessities and prime commodities for a month.
Products to be monitored include noodles, canned goods, bread, processed meat, milk, construction materials and school supplies.
Price monitors will also assist in monitoring business establishments for probable violations of the Trade and Industry Laws such as the Price Tag Law, Labeling & Product Standards Law by informing the regular monitoring staff of observed violations.
CLEEP is a program whose objective is to protect the most vulnerable sectors by providing emergency employment as well as funding and supervision of livelihood projects.
This is in response to the national government’s Memorandum Circular No. 168 directing all members of the cabinet to draw up and prepare emergency work programs and doable livelihood projects due to the global economic crisis. (Press Release from DTI Bukidnon)
