The much-awaited Kaamulan Festival 2009 is set to open today, February 18, 2009. A “soft opening” will be held at the Capitol Grounds, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon at 8 a.m.

Several booths at the Kaamulan Garden Show, Food Fest, Kaamulan Bazaar, Agri-Fair and Livestock show are set to open and welcome locals and tourists alike. At 7 pm tonight, a live band performance by the 403rd Peacemaker Band will also take place at the Capitol Stage, Capitol Grounds.

The Kaamulan Festival is largely considered the only remaining authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines. It is an ethnic festival which features Bukidnon’s seven (7) hilltribes namely BUKIDNONS, MANOBO, MATIGSALUG, TALAANDIG, HIGA-ONON, UMAYAMNON AND TIGUAHANON
