Bukidnon congressman TG Guingona leaves Villar’s Nacionalista Party
BUKIDNON POLITICS – Bukidnon Second District Congressman Teofisto “TG” Guingona III is leaving the Nacionalista Party. The Nacionalista Party is led by former Senate President Manuel Villar, who has earlier announced his intentions of running for president in the May 2010 elections.
Guingona, who has also earlier announced his intentions to run for senator next year, has reportedly joined the Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III-Senator Mar Roxas ticket.
According to a news article posted on Inquirer, Laguna Representative Justin Chipeco, a member of the Nacionalista Party, has confirmed Guingona’s departure from the party.
“Well, good luck to him. Whatever his reasons are, we respect him,” Chipeco was quoted as saying, adding that he didn’t think Guingona was a loss to the party.
