Well-loved Bishop Galido passes away
The former administrator of San Isidro Cathedral Malaybalay and current Bishop of Iligan, Most Reverend Elenito Galido, DD has passed away. This was confirmed by St. John XXIII College Seminary, where Bishop Galido served as their 4th Seminary Rector.
Galido, born in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon and well-loved by many, died December 5, 2017 at around 10 PM.
Before his demise, Bishop NitzĀ Galido became ill. Despite this, however, he continued to serve and even visited New York, USA along with several priests to hold a peace concert.
Galido was born in Barangay Managok, Malaybalay City. He finished high school and college at San Isidro College. From 1988 to 1998, he became the Vicar General of the Diocese of Malaybalay. He later became the Administrator of the San Isidro Cathedral and a Director of the Bukidnon Institute of Catechetics. He was then appointed Associate Priest at St. Francis de Sales Church in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
On March 25, 2006, he was appointed Bishop of Iligan.
A known environmentalist, Bishop Galido underwent an episcopal ordination on September 8, 2006.
