BIR Bukidnon collector faces malversation case
BUKIDNON NEWS – The Office of the Ombudsman in Manila has reportedly filed a malversation of public funds case against a Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Bukidnon revenue collection officer.
According to this Inquirer news article, the Ombudsman filed malversation raps against BIR Bukidnon revenue collection officer Gertrudes Asibal for allegedly failing to remit some P330,000 in collections. Asibal reportedly did not remit the said amount in 2005.
The Ombudsman complaint was lodged before the Bukidnon Regional Trial Court.
“In the crime of malversation, all that is necessary for conviction is proof that the accountable officer had received the public funds and that he did not have them in his possession when demand thereof was made,” the Ombudsman said.
The Inquirer news article also stated that Asibal failed to submit a response to the allegations during preliminary investigation.
