There’s still a chance for Sacred Heart stalwart Philip “Papot” Paredes to rejoin COAA’s basketball team in the Northern Mindanao Regional Palarong Pampook.
In a talk with Lawrence Pastrano Monday, the assistant of Sacred Heart coach Boy Dacoco revealed the only hindrance to Paredes’ quest of spearheading the COAA campaign in the regional meet secondary basketball competition is the RP junior team’s impending trip to the US.
“I’ve heard that the RP Youth is bound for US as part of its training program abroad. If dili ma-conflict ang skeds dako ang possibility nga makadula si Papot sa regional meet,” Pastrano said.
The Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) meet is slated to be held here on April 1-4 at the Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Center.
The 6-foot-6 Paredes, a native of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon and currently enrolled at Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori School (SHJMS) in Cagayan de Oro, is the only player from Mindanao coach Franz Pumaren who has tapped to bolster the ceiling of the RP juniors.
Meanwhile, South Korean legendary shooter Shin Dong Pa and Yoo Hee Hyung will reinforce top Filipino coaches as resource speakers in the BAP-SBP/Bcap Basketball Coaching Clinic on February 28, 29 and March 1 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Metro Manila.
