Slain Valencia barangay kagawad Gino Zambrano was a senator’s political officer

Now, Senator Ralph Recto has released a statement on the killing of Zambrano, who apparently served as the senator’s political officer for CDO – Bukidnon.
This was the statement of Senator Ralph Recto on the slain Gino Zambrano:
Amid the high-profile campaign to enforce election gun ban, bullets from firearms used by masked assailants ended the young life of Kagawad Gino Antonio Zambrano of CDO-Bukidnon last Tuesday, January 22.
Gino was driving his multicab from the barangay hall to his house in Valencia City noon of Tuesday when gunmen boarded the back of his vehicle and shot him.
He took two bullets to his heart and one fatal bullet to his head.
Gino is currently on his second term as Barangay Kagawad.
He was my political officer for CDO-Bukidnon during my last senatorial campaign.
Gino was an active youth leader, a former official of the Sangguniang Kabataan, a delegate to the 5th National Youth Parliament and was a devout Catholic layman.
Gino was only 26 years old and could have been a good lawyer after taking the bar recently. He has no known enemies except for those threatened by his expanding footprint in local politics.
I’m personally outraged by this dastard act.
I strongly condemn the senseless killing of a young man whose only fault was to dedicate his life toward serving his community.
I appeal to the leadership of the PNP not only to zero in on ridding Metro Manila and nearby environs of loose firearms but also enforce it even in far-flung provinces.
I offer my condolences to Gino’s family and friends, especially to his mother, Elvisa.
I trust that concerned agencies would see to it that Gino’s killers would be brought to justice very soon.
