Tourism, airline target Bukidnon Ilonggo community
Seems like the Ilonggo community in Bukidnon is now a target. A target as potential tourists, that is.
The regional director for Western Visayas of the Department of Tourism said that they’re targeting the sizable Ilonggo community in the Province of Bukidnon. Helen Catalbas says that they want to entice the Ilonggos in Bukidnon to visit Iloilo.
And helping them do this is an airline that launched a Cagayan de Oro – Iloilo route.
According to Catalbas, Cebu Pacific has been flying thrice weekly from Cagayan de Oro to Iloilo since October 2011. Since there’s no airport in Bukidnon yet, airline commuters from Bukidnon need to travel to either Cagayan de Oro or Davao City and take the flights there. Cagayan de Oro is nearer Bukidnon.
Catalbas said: “We are working closely with Cebu Pacific to encourage the sizable Ilonggo community in Bukidnon’s third district to come visit Iloilo now a convenient air link has been established to their hometown.”
